Bergamo – Donizetti Theater
The Donizetti Theater in Bergamo underwent a conservative restoration with a series of targeted efforts to preserve its historic facades. The artificial stone and plaster surfaces were strengthened using compatible materials injected into the structure. The sculptural groups were repaired and stabilized with new supports on the corner walls, using advanced techniques like 10-meter-long core drilling and the installation of stainless steel anchors to secure them. The wooden window frames on the facades were also restored, and the theater’s roof was renovated. This included repairing and reinforcing the wooden structures, replacing damaged parts, and treating the wood against pests. Some of the old wooden floors inside were also restored. The project included also the complete renovaiting of electrical plant systems almost invisible due to the removal of sculptures from the surfaces and objects of the facade.
Additionally, a nearly invisible electrostatic system was installed to gently keep birds away from the building’s facade and decorative elements, ensuring the restored surfaces remain clean and protected.
